Relevance of social media to businesses

As I wrote the caption for the article, I anticipated apathetic responses for posing such a naive question. Marketers would argue that I am being dumb at the first place to even pose such a question. However, I wish to put forth my view wherein I feel the word social media would cease to exist but those platforms will become the defacto engine for the marketer for the marketing plan.

So a marketer would not just engage a customer on the social media by means of a tweet or post but given options to tap into the vast amount of profiling data to understand customer sentiments,  test product features to buying patters.

Facebook as a platform will be a complete means for an awareness and engagement agenda and Twitter for brand messaging. Hence social media will make way for more powerful digital media platform transforming how businesses operate and make an brand impact. Hence, can it be claimed that the social media will cease to exist but make way for more powerful digital media platforms which not just provide a means for people chatter but drive business insights.

With advancement of mobile and average time spent on mobile platforms continue to surge,  all time is prime time. Brands are searched on mobile and explored more on mobile. The truth about brand engagement is more than ever on mobile. Hence, business strategy has now to be linked to online strategy which should be synonymous with the mobile strategy and these tools will put big strength in business decisions. These tools will transform the businesses and is available for business of all sizes and not just the ones with deep pockets.

So, it's safe to say, success will be determined from targeted reach combined with strong messaging , keeping the right frequency of reach and insightful measurement. All these success factors are well entranced in the social media of today.
